A Perfect Tour - Tuscany Tour - Siena based villas - Personally escorted by Jerry Gain

Come and stay with us at the lovely Campriano Villa and Winery, exclusively ours during the harvest or any other week that may be available for your own group of 8 people or join one in progress. Our daily tours are conducted by our certified driving guides, who work in tandem with official city guides of the regions.

APT has been a leader for over 15 years providing its customers with tours to Italy.

You might wish to begin your Perfect Tour with extended time in Rome.

Day 1
Flight from Toronto for Florence Italy.

Day 2
We will be staying at the lovely Campriano Villa in the Sienese Hills.
Check in at villa. Familiarize with villa and surrounding area. Traditional Tuscan dinner prepared by our host (included). We will have an Orientation meeting with tour representative prior to dinner.

Day 3
Breakfast included then transfer and tour. Relax in the morning before our guides take us to Montepulciano and Pienza. Montepulciano is one of the highest of Tuscany hillside towns. The town is circled by walls and fortifications. The town is renowned for its local “Vino Nobile". Pienza is a quiet agricultural town with shops that sell local products like Pecorino made with sheep milk. The centre of Pienza was completely redesigned in Renaissance time. Dinner suggestion: dine at a local restaurant of your choice or Campriano

Day 4
Breakfast at Villa and relax and explore grounds of villa. Later we will sample the olive oil and wines of Campriano (available in Canada at Riverdale Wines) before we have Rosita's cooking class

Learn to cook like a real Italian!

This basic cooking class is absolutely for everyone, even the kitchen helpless! Once prepared, the table is set and soon we sit down to the fruits of our labour. After lunch, we can relax on the lawn, chat at the table while having espresso the Italian way, or take a stroll around the romantic private grounds. Dinner is up to you (if you still have room to eat!

Day 5

Our guides pick us up at the villa and transport us into the city of Florence . We meet with our city guide who directs us through the many areas of Florence including: the famous jewellery district around the Ponte Vecchio, the famous Dome by Brunelleschi, and the gold Paradise door of the Baptistry. A highlight of the tour is seeing Michelangelo's David at the Academia of Fine Arts Museum - Galleria dell 'Academia- (without the customary 2 hour lineup). With our guide we bypass the crowds. In the afternoon we have free time to explore the city, shop, or just sit in a piazza sipping a cold drink or cappuccino and watching the crowds. Our suggestion: take in the Uffizi Museum in the late afternoon when the crowds are down. Pick up for return to our villa around 6:00pm. Dinner locally or at the villa.

Day 6
Montalcino & Siena

Montalcino is known for its production of Brunello Wines. The town sits high on top of a hill with narrow and winding steep streets crowned by the 14 th Century Fortezza build by Cosimo I. From the ramparts there are spectacular views of the countryside. We will spend the afternoon in Siena visiting the Piazza del Campo, the Duomo and Palazzo Pubblico. Siena's streets en-circle the Piazza del Campo which is home to the famous Palio (Horse Race) in July and August; other times of the year it home to amazing shops, gelatarios and restaurants.

Return late afternoon Campriano. Dinner locally, or perhaps now that you know how, prepare your own dinner or just have Rosita prepare it.

Day 7
Chianti & San Gimignano

Leaving the villa at 9:30am, the day will be entirely dedicated to the Chianti Region which is defined by many foreigners as “the most beautiful countryside in the world”. It is famous for the wine, but we go there mainly to enjoy the beauty of its walled medieval towns, castles, stone farmhouses and breathtaking landscapes. San Gimignano is known for its skyline of towers virtually unchanged since the middle ages. Fourteen of the original 76 towers from the 13 th and 14 th Century have survived. Shops, art galleries, jewelers and restaurants line the streets within the city walls.
